A chocolate tabby tom looked around the plains with bright yellow eyes resembling that of a beacon. It was night, and few stars pinpricked the sky with their shining light. Demone Fyre blinked, disrupting the eerie moment. He then gazed up to the sky; easily counting the five stars. "Seems that ol' StarClan ain't watching," he muttered thoughtfully. At that, he couldn't resist a devillish smirk-like expression flit onto his face. So, StarClan. The only reason why he had herd of StarClan was because he and his mother, Leaf, and his father, Rogue (all loners) had, once, used to live next to ThunderClan. Or something. It wasn't like Demone was concerned with Clan he had once been bordered next to. As far as he had his nose in something, the Clans were stupid cats with dumb beliefs. I mean, really. Dead cats watching over them, from the stars, nonetheless? Okay, that completely spoilt the opinion Demone had over the sparkling things.

Demone dropped his gaze to the path in front of him and began walking down the hill he had been standing on, his fur ruffled by the slight wind.

Blood. Oh, the horror! And Fireclaw. Ripplekit, Streamkit, Mistykit and Adderkit. All dead.

Nightsong fled through the forest, feeling grief beyond anything she had ever felt before. Nothing could be worse than this! Fireclaw, her mate, was dead. Her kits were all dead. Why were they dead? They couldn't be dead. They were simply hiding. No. She was such a kit! Why did she have to run from sadness? There was always death in store for every cat.

She raised her head to the sky. "StarClan, why?" she screamed. It was so unfair. StarClan was cruel and heartless. "I will not longer take the name you have given me! I will call myself Sayonarasong, because you have taken so many things-- so many loved ones-- from me! This is the final goodbye. I will never follow you again!"

Sayonarasong let out on last, sad howl and collapsed, weeping without tears. Her parents. Then her sisters and brothers. And now her mate and her kits. Oh, the world was a sad, cruel place, full of cats that would never love her and would never give her anything she wanted. She was vain, to be sure, but under that vanity, a true, beautiful cat lay.

She would never forgive StarClan. Not as long as she lived. Never. If only she hadn't been so wrapped up in her thoughts! If only she had thought to look up, and see Demone Fyre coming straight towards her...

Demone Fyre continued to pad down the hill, eyes focused on the ground that he walked upon.

Suddenly he heard an anguished wail and his head jolted up, fierce yellow eyes glaring in the night, trying to pick out the creature that had uttered it. Finally his eyes met Sayonarasong's figure. He tensed, fur bristling with apprehension. His hackle raised and his yellow eyes narrowed. He did not bother baring his teeth, only just unsheathing his claws. "What is your name, cat?" he jeered at her. "Wailing and crying like that? Have you no shame? No sense? Did you not realise how much prey you have warned off?" He presented her a contemptuous shake of the head, the white tip of his bushy tail flicking mockingly. He betrayed no other emotion.

"Oh, I don't know," Demone jeered, not moving from his spot. His hackles were beginning to flatten, however his tensed muscles never relaxed. His intense yellow eyes were fixed upon Sayonarasong's green ones, glittering with malice. "Should I?" Demone's whiskers twitched. It was fun to tease the she-cat, but he couldn't continue it for long. Without turning his back to the Simali, Demone Fyre made his way around her, beginning to back further.

Sayonarasong sighed. "No, maybe not," she muttered. Who did this cat think he was, anyway? He was a loner, for sure, because he was that don't-judge-a-book-by-its-cover type of cat. He was handsome, to be sure, but rugged and looked worn. "Where are you heading to, anyhow?" the pretty she-cat asked curiously. Where did loners go? She needed to know, or she'd be wandering around forever.

Demone Fyre paused, and his yellow eyes hardened. He regarded Sayonarasong coldly before his look of distaste cleared. He quickly arranged his features into a leer and mocked, "Oh, why? Now, I really don't think I want stalkers." Finally, Demone Fyre relented, meowing briskly, "I'm going wherever the wind ta--" Suddenly he looked the other loner up and down with a frown. Then, scenting her, he stepped back, eyes narrowed to slits. "You! You're a Clan cat! What are you doing here? To track me down?"

"Uh huh, okay." The large tom rolled his eyes, sitting tensely on his haunches. "If you are supposedly 'giving up your life as a Clan cat', what will you do next?" Demonre smirked; as if a Clan cat could gather up the guts to do anything like that. The majority of them were attention-seeking wimps, struggling to believe that dead cats became stars, soon becoming deranged enough to believe that they were being visited in their sleep. Riight.

However, Demone was quite interested to listen to Sayonarasong's story. He hadn't heard of her name before. Perhaps made up? He didn't even know what 'sayonara' meant. Anyway, this 'Sayonarasong' was sure to have an interesting fable. 'Fable' because he couldn't trust a Clan cat, former or not.

Sayonarasong glared at him hostilely. Why was he so determined to believe that she was still a Clan cat? She wasn't. "I-- I don't know," she admitted. She searched his face, looking for sarcasm in his words. However, all she found was mockery and scorn. Anger flared up inside her once more. "I changed my name," Sayonarasong rebounded. "Sayonara because I've had to say goodbye to so many things. And it was all StarClan's fault!"

She knew that she was acting like a kit, and she would have laughed at herself if she wasn't so angry. "There-- there was a battle. And long story short, all my loved ones died. I don't suppose you've ever had to face the pain of losing all your family members at once?" she accused. This cat seemed to hostile and mocking to ever have any family that would care for him.

Eh, well, whatever. Saying goodbye to StarClan and all that... I'll leave you now." Demone gave Sayonarasong a slightly teasing flick of the tail before heading to pad off.

Then somewhere in his mind; the logical bit; told him to halt. What if this cat joined him? Then they could have an alliance to topple the clans! *murderous laugh!* Well... maybe not. But still, a group of cats to help each other. Certainly not like a Clan, but...

No, that's stupid. Demone dismissed the thought and picked up the pace again.

Demone Fyre was briefly aware of being followed by the she-cat. A pleasant wave of surprise washed over him. Who'd have thought that he didn't manage to drive another cat away? However he spared Sayonarasong the doubt, continuing on without acknowledging her. He was headed apparently nowhere, merely using his nose as a guidance, searching for a suitable, yet temporary, home near plentiful prey.

Finally Demone Fyre looked to Sayonarasong and his topaz eyes narrowed. "What're you doing?" he asked bluntly. What in the world?

Finally Demone stopped at a small part of the forest located in a small, square-shaped, heavily marked boundy. "You may go now... not like I wanted for you to follow me anyway." Demone ducked his head as he entered a low-ceilinged den, obviously only meant for one. Without bidding Sayonarasong goodbye he curled himself into a smaller shape on a bed of moss, burying his muzzle into his pelt. He obviously didn't want company.

Sayonarasong padded well away from Demone, looking for somewhere to sleep. Away from the Clans' warm territory, an icy wind blew, and Sayonarasong shivered. Finally, she found a small hollow: under a group of ferns was a small, secluded nest type thing, where she curled up and tucked her tail away from the cold. She shivered as the wind managed to get in still. Looking up, the ruddy somali found a bunch of moss and two feathers. She tucked them in around herself and snuggled into her makeshift nest. It was much better, but she still felt chilled. Curling up into a tighter ball, she tried to sleep.

Demone woke pleasantly. His sharp, slanted yellow eyes snapped open and he instinctively leaped out from his nest, landing on four feet. With a pant, he leaned against the tough wall of his cramped den. Nerves and paranoia did not make a pleasant combination. What with the Clan cat sleeping near to him, she was practically invading on his private hide-out. He padded from the small den and poked Sayonarasong one, two, three times on the shoulder with a cream-colored paw.
“Wake up,” he ordered, allowing himself to sit on his haunches, gazing apprehensively at the smaller she-cat. “You can leave now.”

Demone allowed Sayonarasong a minute to think back on her question before continuing, very slowly and accurately, with a smirk on his face, “Well…. Let’s think. Firstly, I believe that I marked the first boundary around here, and in doing so I claimed it for myself. Secondly, I have allowed you to enter my territory temporarily so you are my guest, and in no right position to argue about my authority.” He settled down on his belly, tucking his paws underneath his chest, yellow eyes gleaming with scorn. “I think you can figure it out for yourself.”

Inwardly Demone couldn’t stop cackling. Seriously, that she-cat should have known that it was a bad question the minute she had uttered it. Yet she hadn’t attempted to take her words back. Alright, maybe she was tired; Demone would give her that. But still. Demone wouldn’t feed the troll any more, and so he was going to mock her endlessly.
